What a great night, and Happy 45th Birthday D Magazine!
Emerald City Band’s Phillip Mistretta Influences
Every member in Emerald City Band has a story behind their passion and decision in pursuing a career in music. The band’s keyboardist, Phillip Mistretta, influences behind his love for music truly shows how much variety Emerald City Band brings to the table.
While growing up, he was initially playing the saxophone due to his parents listening of jazz records from artists such as Stan Getz and John Coltrane. It was when he got older, he became drawn to the piano due to a great artistt by the name of Herbie Hancock who brought a unique approach to the craft. The use of synthesizers in Hancock’s pieces really peaked his interest in sound design and pursue a career in the world of music.
Other iconic artists such as Stevie Wonder and Quincy Jones are influences in Phillip’s love for music due to their compositions and arrangements of pop music.
Every type of music impacts each member of the band in a different way. When Phillip and Emerald City Band perform, a sound and style is produced like nothing ever heard before. This is just one of the many they produce that “once in a lifetime” experience.
2 Day’s of Emerald City’s Independence Day Traditions
What a week it was for Emerald City Band over the Fourth of July. From playing at Addison Kaboom Town on July 3rd to the City of Hurst’s Stars & Stripes on July 4th, it was one of the best times the band has ever had.
The events were filled with great food, fun rides, and amazing entertainment from a number of talented bands and musicians. Before performing at Addison Kaboom Town, the 36th Infantry Division Concert Band and ESCAPE: A Tribute to Journey rocked the audience with phenomenal performances.
Right afterward, the firework show, known as one of the top ten firework displays in the country according to USA Today, went off before the band got on stage, and to be described in one single word, “breathtaking” is surely what it was.
The City of Hurst’s Stars & Stripes was the best way to spend the day on 4th of July. Not only did Emerald City love performing once again for the people of Hurst but the fireworks were beyond spectacular.
The members of Emerald City Band are honored and proud to be an American, play music, and entertain every single one of you.
Happy Birthday to the United States of America!

Happy Fathers Day from Emerald City Band
Today’s a great day for a variety of reasons, a major one being the fact that it’s Father Day! When Emerald City Band performs at weddings, it’s the best feeling to be a part of such a special day. For the bride, the groom, their families and friends, it’s a wonderful occasion and we’re honored to be a part of it.
So many special moments are attached to a wedding, and one is the bride and father of the bride dance. It’s a tender and sweet moment between a father and daughter, it’s beautiful and important in more ways than one. To play that special song for is a phenomenal feeling that just can’t be beat.
Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers out there, we hope it’s filled with love and great memories.

Emerald City Band’s Newest Recruit: Danny Phillips
Emerald City Band’s newest recruit, Danny Phillips, is so excited to be joining the ECB family. Danny had a lot of music influences while growing up, starting with his father who’s a saxophone player. While in third grade, he taught himself how to play the piano, eventually moving towards the saxophone during sixth grade in his schools band. For him, music is something he’s connected with throughout his life.
“I really wanted to do music because not only did it make me feel good but I just had a lot of emotion and you know, it needed to be conveyed. I guess from a young age I just had a lot of ideas that were just flowing out from all the different genres of music I was listening to.”
Danny Phillips
Danny is graduating from A&M Commernce this summer with a Bachelors Degree for Music Performance. From his first gig with with the band back in February to the many more to come, Emerald City Band is so excited to have him join the family and to continue making memories and music with him.
“It’s not just another gig, it’s like another time to make memories with the audience and with each other on stage.”
Danny Phillips
Memorial Day 2019
This Memorial Day weekend was one for the books. On Friday, we got to be a part of the Town of Prosper’s Downtown Live 2019! event and it was beyond amazing! The other musicians and bands who played were fantastic and we’re so happy to have worked with the Town of Prosper to celebrate their completion of construction for their downtown area.
With Memorial Day, we honor the men and women who have sacrificed their lives defending and protecting our country. There are so many ways we can express this but our founder and CEO, Deno Taglioli, says it best.
“Every single man and women who have sacrificed their lives for our freedom and country will forever be a hero and a legend. We are forever thankful and will continue to be every single day.”

Parkland Hospital’s 125th Anniversary
The Emerald City Band had the honor to spend this past Friday at Parkland Hospital in Dallas to celebrate their 125th Anniversary. The staff at Parkland Hospital are some of the most hard working individuals in Dallas making a difference every single day. Emerald City had the best time celebrating this significant anniversary for such an exceptional Dallas establishment.
“It’s being able to celebrate and spend time with these wonderful organizations who contribute to the community that really makes us excited about these events,” stated Dwayne Heggar Emerald City’s longtime bass player.
“The people we’ve met and the things learned when working with these extraordinary people is what really matters at the end of the day, and The Emerald City Band is always ready for that next opportunity.”
Original Mother’s Day Music – “Carry You Home” by Deno Taglioli
Emerald City Band’s founder and singer Deno Taglioli is someone who truly puts his heart into everything he does. When writing songs, Deno makes sure that each word holds a sentimental value to the people listening. When writing the song “Carry You Home”, his reasoning behind the beautiful song is heartfelt and about this special day where we appreciate our mothers and everything they do to make us who we are today.
“It’s a simple thank you song that was inspired by my mom and my wife and ended up being a tribute to all moms on Mother’s Day. Thank you for guiding us through our life’s journey. With love,
Deno Taglioli
