Not many people can say they’ve heard a live band that can cover Pitbull, Tina Turner and Michael Jackson in one night. But not every band is like Emerald City.
On a Sunday night at Lava Cantina, Emerald City performed at a silent auction where men and women in the audience serenaded each other with “Call Me Maybe” and “Best Of My Love.” Whether they were sitting or standing, people danced, bobbed their heads or tapped their fingers to the music. The band’s trumpeter and saxophonist weaved among the audience during the set, and during each of their solos, they drew cheers and fist pumps from both tiers of the venue.
Celebrating America’s freedom, celebrating family, and celebrating fellowship.
Emerald City is honored to entertain cities all around Texas for the 4th of July. Year after year EC has headlined shows for the City of Murphy, City of Allen, City of Hurst and the infamous Kaboomtown in Addison. Just in these four Independence Day shows, Emerald City performed for over 150,000 people from all over the state.
EC members are proud to be an American and honored to entertain the state of Texas for such an important day in history.
Over the last two weeks Emerald City has gone from Dallas to San Antonio, back to Dallas, to Austin, to Detroit, back to San Antonio and wrapped up this run in Houston.
What a ride it has been! Each city brought the house down with their energy and enthusiasm. Traveling can be hard. It’s late nights, early morning flights and go go go in between, but what keeps us going is knowing that we are making unforgettable moments for each person we meet.
Cheers to an unforgettable summer.
In the month of June alone, EC will be traveling through 4 states and 9 different cities, taking 10 flights and 2 tour bus rides to bring the party to all of you.
This past week was the perfect way to start off the month. EC made the trek to the beautiful Coronado Island in sunny San Diego California to play the opening night of the national convention for Allstate Insurance.
Hotel Del Coronado, a historic Curio Collection hotel built in 1888, was the perfect setting to kick this evening off with a bang. As soon as the sun set on Coronado beach, Emerald City lit up the night with music and dancing, putting a smile on everyone’s face.
Thank you Allstate for partying the night away with us!
The Allstate Corporation is the largest publicly held personal property and casualty insurer in America, serving more than 16 million households nationwide.

A wedding is a time for family and friends to come together and create moments that will be remembered forever. One of the most important opportunities for this is the First Dance for the Bride and Groom. Over the years, I’ve learned that there are some important things to consider when choosing a first dance.
Be sure that your first dance has a special meaning to you and your fiancé. This can be a special lyric of the song that strikes your heart. Or, the song may reflect back to an important time in your life. The time when you and your loved one first met, the time and circumstance of the marriage proposal, a special date or occasion. Often times, couples will go off the beaten path and choose a song that is not popular or well known. That’s just fine because the first dance is about you and your fiancé, not for everyone else to recognize. It’s okay to choose a classic song or one that is relatively obscure. Just make sure the song is relevant to your experience and relationship. At the end of the day choose a song that connects the two of you and you’ll remember it for years to come.
Some popular songs have been performed and recorded by many different artists. Be sure that you clearly communicate which artist and recording you’d like to the band. For instance, “The Way You Look Tonight” was probably most famously performed by Frank Sinatra. However, that version is very different from Billie Holliday’s recording. Be specific, so that you hear the version of the song you expect at the reception.
Below is a list of popular first dance songs that I’ve performed over my career. This list is just a starting point – something to get you pointed in the right direction. Hopefully, this list will be helpful to you and your fiancé.
The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra or Michael Buble
(both have great versions)
1000 Years but Christina Perry
Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley
Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You by Frankie Valli & The 4 Seasons
Crazy Love by Michael Buble/Van Morrison
It Had To Be You by Harry Connick, Jr.
Let’s Stay Together by Al Green
Make You Feel My Love written by Bob Dylan, performed by Adele
True Companion – Mark Cohn
You Are The Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne
Deno Taglioli is a lifelong musician. Originally from Detroit, he moved to Dallas in 1983 and started the Emerald City Band. For the past 35 years, Deno has performed at over 1,000 wedding receptions. Infused with Motown soul, Emerald City Band has become the busiest and best function band in the Southwest with a full schedule of over 250 shows per year, entertaining audiences at weddings, parties, and corporate events in Dallas, The White House, and across the globe.
Emerald City Band had the honor to perform for Minnie’s Food Pantry’s 10th Anniversary Gala. Minnie’s Food Pantry is a Plano, Texas based nonprofit organization that aims to reduce hunger by providing healthy meals to those in need. To date, they have provided more than 6 million meals to families in the community and around the nation.
This year’s event sold out quickly, and included a star studded guest list including celebrities such as: Floyd Mayweather, Emmitt Smith, Dallas Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle, Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Fraiser, and many more. Head of Minnie’s Food Panty-Cheryl (Action) Jackson, delivered a powerful speech on how she built this company from the ground up in the past ten years, before introducing the key speaker for the night, OPRAH WINFREY.
Oprah made a goal of raising $250,000 at the gala. That was quickly surpassed with the event raising well over a million dollars. Emerald City Band was proud to donate $5,000.00 to such an incredible local charity. EC also donated their time and served as the entertainment that brought this whole party to their feet and ended the night with a bang. Oh, what a night.
The night was filled with an abundance of entertainment. From aerial artists to stilt walkers and contortionists, Emerald City Band was just the icing on the cake. Until next time, Chi-town!!
Emerald City Band is making its way around the globe, and what better place to stop, than MEXICO. The hardest working musicians in the country were able to have some R&R and band bonding time in Cancun before their show in Tulum later that week. They soaked up the sun, snorkeled with exotic fish and sea turtles, explored Mayan ruins, enjoyed gourmet food and made the most of their trip to the beautiful country of Mexico. On the last night in Tulum, Mexico, Emerald City put on the show of a lifetime. The five star Secrets Akumal resort was the perfect setting for our clients to dance the night away.
Any time, any day, anywhere in the world…Emerald City will bring the party to you.
From Dallas, all the way to San Diego! Emerald City will travel all over the country to make your wedding the BEST wedding it can be!
Congratulations to the happy couple, Claudia and Max Brodsky!!
